1. Early Year (Nursery) Class Facilitator
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Duties and Responsibilities of the Early Year Coordinator are listed below, but are not limited to the following:
- General supervision/oversight of ALL class activities.
- Ensuring that all class lesson plans are prepared on weekly basis and strictly followed as well as consistency with program
- Motivating and stimulating children’s learning ability, often encouraging learning through experience.
- Providing pastoral care and support to children and providing them with a secure environment to learn.
- Developing and producing visual aids and teaching resources
- Organizing learning materials and resources and making imaginative use of resources
- Assisting with the development of children’s personal, social, and language abilities
- Supporting the development of children’s basic skills, including physical coordination, speech, and communication skills.
- Encouraging children’s mathematical and creative development through stories, songs, games, drawing, and imaginative play.
- Developing children’s curiosity and knowledge
- Working with others including teaching assistant, nursery nurses, as well as volunteer helpers, to plan and co-ordinate work both indoors and outdoors.
- Sharing knowledge gain with other practitioners and parents
- Observing, assessing and recording each child’s progress.
- Attending in-service training
- Ensuring the health and safety of children and staff is maintained during all activities, both inside and outside the nursery or school.
- Keeping up to date with changes in the curriculum and development in best practice.
Skills
- Experience in Montessori & highscope
- An enthuasitic, cheerful and friendly personality.
- Communication and listening skills
- Patience-with all children, but especially those with behavioural problems or special educational needs
- A calm nature and the ability to keep a cool head in a crisis
- Team working spirit and the ability to get on with adult (parents, colleagues, and childcare professionals)
- Creative skills and the ability to plan exciting activities.
- Plenty of energy
- A sense of humor
Qualifications
NCE/ B.Ed in Early Childhood Education
Teaching experience in a similar role is an added advantage
What to expect
- There may be occasional trips with pupils, or staff development opportunities, which involve staying away from home and/or out of state travel.

- Grade teachers are usually based in their own classrooms, although they may teach elsewhere in the school to cover staff shortages or because of their specialist subject area. Resources vary between schools.
